Youth Worker Sabbath 2019

August 8-10, 2019

Youth Worker Sabbath offers a time to refresh and re-energize after a long summer. All Youth Workers are invited to come fellowship, share best practices, rest, and recharge. We will laugh, learn, and worship together. A schedule is in place; however, you are invited to use the time as you need.

We will be staying at the beautiful Summers Mill Retreat Center overlooking Salado Creek. The address is 7441 FM 1123, Belton, TX, 76513.  Our facilitator this year is Evey McKellar.

Evey is a writer, improv theologian, pilgrim, Deacon in the UMC, pastor, traveler, deep listener, advocate for justice, improviser, practicer of yoga, and lover of coffee, Cane Rosso, and the ocean.

She writes liturgy, poetry, articles, and curriculum with the Missional Wisdom Foundation, with focus on improv theology, vocational discernment, the journey of pilgrimage, reconciliation, healthy community, hospitality, and safe and brave space.

As an improv theologian, she leads workshops to interweave the wisdom of improv comedy to nurture communities that support each other, actively build trust, and co-create together in the face of the unknown.
She leads pilgrims and teaches a foundational class in MWF’s training academy, Launch & Lead, on how Story intersects and informs Community.

She is a Community Nurturer at The Mix Coworking Space & Commercial Kitchen, writes grants with the Foundation, and lives in Intentional community in East Dallas with her dog Scout, where they weekly gather for a meal and prayer among a community of homelessness, friendship, justice, and mutuality.
