Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This Advent Season, as you and your congregation plan special offerings to missions, I write to ask you to consider helping the United Methodist University in Sierra Leonne.   Many of you know Rev. Katie Meek.  She is a Central Texas Clergy sister who is now serving in Sierra Leone as Missionary through Global Ministries.  Katie serves as the United Methodist Congregational Development and Educational Coordinator for The United Methodist University.  She reached out via FUMC Round Rock, where she previously served for five years, to let us know of the University’s financial need.  For over eleven months many of the local staff have not been paid their salary, yet they faithfully serve.   The letter attached at the end of this enote from Katie and the video below, will provide you with information regarding the appeal.

While this not an official conference offering, the Smith Center for Evangelism, Mission and Church Growth has established a CTC Giving Fund to facilitate individuals and local congregations who want to give to his ministry.  Donations may be made electronically to this link.

Checks may be mailed to:  Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church – P.O. Box 50517– Fort Worth, TX 76105.  When making donations electronically or via mail, please use the giving code:  5710 – United Methodist University Sierra Leone.

FUMC-Round Rock is taking the lead in helping us to spread the word about this ministry and the need.  If you have any questions regarding the ministry, you can reach out to Rev. Pat McCain, Executive Pastor, at pat@fumc-rr.org.

Thank you for your prayers and considerations for helping our neighbors in Sierra Leone.

Blessings!\
