Texas Hunger Initiative
How can your church assist persons with food insecurity in your local community? The Texas Hunger Initiative is a community building project that seeks to end hunger through public-private collaboration and community organizing. In partnership with Texas Impact and the Texas Association of Community Health Centers they are recruiting organizations such as churches to become Community Partners across the state. Basically, the initiative provides a network of community-based organizations (such as churches) that partner with the State of Texas to help Texans apply for and renew social service benefits through using a computer at their location. The Community Partner Program is free for church participation. In addition to simplifying the process for assisting those with food insecurity to obtain benefits, the program would allow churches to build new relationships with persons with needs in their local communities and provide valuable ministry with the poor.
Please see information about this partnership opportunity and how to apply to join the Community Partner Program.
