Revive United Methodist Church

Following the difficult separation from their home churches due to disaffiliation, folks from the Azle/Weatherford area who wanted to #BeUMC needed to find a new church home. Thanks to some help from social media and the nudging of the Holy Spirit, a grass-roots coalition of laity got together and decided to launch a new church and REVIVE the United Methodist presence in the area. Thanks to this lay-led effort and the creative pastoral guidance of Revs. Jenn and Todd Pick, Revive United Methodist Church of Azle held its first service earlier this month and is already an active and vibrant witness to the Azle/Weatherford area. Hear from some of the laity that were instrumental in this effort as well as the Pastors Pick in the following video.

Thanks to social media collaboration, several conversations with Revs. Jenn and Todd Pick, and the nudging of the Holy Spirit, a grass-roots coalition of laity decided to launch a new United Methodist congregation in Azle after their home churches voted to disaffiliate from the UMC. Revive UMC is that new United Methodist presence serving the Azle/Weatherford area. Recently Revs. Jenn and Todd, the co-pastors of Revive, sat down with POD Strangely Warmed Host Rev. Daniel Hawkins to discuss how this all came together, what they’ve learned in the first 4-6 weeks of services, the fantastic impact of the UMC connection and the power of a trust-filled and active partnership between laity and clergy. As Daniel put it in a pre-production meeting, “This is a wonderful resurrection story to share during Holy Week.”
