RETHINK CHURCH - Discussion Resources on Immigration
Ever wish people would re-think immigration? The RETHINKCHURCH page on umcom.org has some resources to help make such a wish come true. Through the story of Jasmine, a 17-year old U.S. citizen, who was left to make her way in the world by herself after her parents were deported, you’ll see an often dehumanized topic of concern brought to the light and see how one group of United Methodists responded. Jim Perdue, missionary to the U.S.-Mexico border, UMCOM and Re-Think Church have produced the video about Jasmine's struggles and designed all the resources you need to promote an event and lead a discussion in your church or small group.
The info on the site indicates that the only expense is the cost to mail it, but Rev. Dawne Phillips, director of Missions for the Central Texas Conference recently ordered a copy and the shipping was free. So if you are interested, please visit the RETHINKCHURCH portion of umcom.org and order.
