Bishop Saenz is urging all Central Texas Conference churches to make Sunday, March 6, a day of prayer for the people of Ukraine and for the entire situation surrounding this conflict. Pastors are asked to lead congregations in prayer during worship during services on this weekend and provide a handout prayer provided for congregants to take home with them and pray throughout the week. Bishop Saenz has written a prayer for peace based on the words of Psalm 91 and Isaiah 9 for your daily use until military operations cease and peace is realized. If you'd like to use this prayer as your handout prayer for your church/small group, please click on the image below for the version you'd like to download and print.
Also available for church/non-profit use is a new hymn composed by Tom Lough, member of First Round Rock UMC. Tom, who you might recall penned a new hymn for Veterans Day last year (click here for that narrative), was so moved by Bishop Saenz's poem that he penned A Prayer for Our Times based on the prayer and set it to the tune of Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart.
