South Central Jurisdictional Conference 2012 is Open for Business

With last night’s inspiring opening worship and memorial service still stirring in the hearts of the delegations, bishops and visitors – a service in which Bishop Robert E Hayes, episcopal leader for the Oklahoma and OIMC Conferences, brought a message challenging United Methodist’s zeal for bringing Jesus to the world and reminding all that we are charged to run (not crawl, not walk) the race that is before us – the business of the 2012 South Central Jurisdictional Conference (SCJC) has gotten underway.

After some minor amendments to the Pre-Conference Journal were affirmed and Bishop Hayes welcomed those gathered to the 12th session of the SCJC, the “real” business of the meeting began with the reporting of the structure and Rules of Order and a the first report from the Episcopacy Committee leading into the first Episcopal Ballot. The clergy and lay delegates from the 15 annual conferences represented will elect three new bishops during their time together. CTCUMC.org will announce whenever a bishop is elected and you can always follow along via live webcast on the official SCJ website.
