Recipients of Thanksliving Offering 2011 Announced

 by Randy Wild*

Each year the churches of the Central Texas Conference receive a special Thanksliving offering that is split between a project in the CTC and another that supports a global hunger initiative. The offering is split 90/10 between the recipients chosen.

This year 90 percent of the offering will remain in the Central Texas Conference to fund the hunger ministry program available to any CTC church seeking to begin or expand hunger ministries. Your generous offering will empower our congregations to seek new and creative avenues for serving our most vulnerable neighbors.

The remaining 10 percent will be donated to the Burundi Animal Livestock Project Advance # 3020632. Funds will be used to assist groups of farmers with the purchase of piglets and chicks in an initiative to address poverty in this war ravaged region of the world. Funds will also create employment, enhance the capacity of women to enable them to manage their own projects and be used to improve the community’s nutritional status.

Information about how your church’s new and creative hunger ministry may access support beginning in 2012 will be available soon on the Mission Support area of ctcumc.org.
The Central Texas Conference Council on Finance and Administration recommends the annual Thanksliving Offering be taken in November. Churches should submit all donations on a remittance form to the Conference Office, 464 Bailey Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76107. Please indicate that your donation is for Thanksliving 2011.
