Church Outside the Walls

Church Outside the Walls

ACTS 1:8 Project 2010
First United Methodist Church of Ennis begins a new day of ministry at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, when members step outside the walls of the building to live out their vision of “Loving God … Loving Neighbor.”
They will be involved in doing ministry in the area around the church.
We believe in the call from Acts 1:8 that says: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem (at home), and in all Judea (neighboring areas) and Samaria (other cities) and to the ends of the earth.”
First UMC Ennis calls on this as their mandate to reach out with the love and care of Jesus Christ to all people, but beginning in their own neighborhood.
The invitation is extended: Come join us in this new ministry today as we spend the next few weeks leading up to Oct. 3 preparing for this great day of outreach.
Brad Cozart, the church’s Witness Council chair, will develop a team of people to visit each home in the neighborhood prior to Sept. 19 to seek out how they can minister to their neighbors.
Tommy Copeland, Outreach Council chair, will take that information and develop teams of people to minister to individuals, to families, to shut-ins, to nursing homes, and wherever God shows the church a need they can meet in the name of Jesus Christ from Sept. 19 up to the day of the “outside the walls” event.
“What can you do?” members are asked. Anyone else interested in being the hands and feet of Christ as Ennis First moves outside the walls of the church are invited to call the church office at 972-875-7491.
