Bikers, start your engines!

Start your engines. It’s time for the 2010 UMME Rally Sept. 18-19 with an open invitation to all motorcycle enthusiasts. (UMME stands for United Methodist Motorcycle Enthusiasts and carries with it a commitment to Christian values and practices.)

The event starts at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at Granbury First United Methodist Church. Participants can expect motorcycle games, a scenic countryside ride, hamburger lunch provided by the youth of Granbury First UMC, dinner by a local chef, door prizes, entertainment by professional ventriloquist Nancy Burks-Worcester, and worship on Sunday morning at Granbury First UMC.
Area motels can accommodate those who are traveling a distance, with a block of rooms with a special UMME rate at the Comfort Suites (817-579-5559). Anyone interested in meeting Friday evening before the rally can join the group for dinner at 7 p.m. at Spring Creek Barbeque on Hwy. 377.
To register ($35/person), e-mail Doug Gregory at doug_gregory@sbcglobal.net or go to www.fumcgranbury.org and find the UMME link. For more details, visit www.UMME.org.
