Several of our CTC Churches have engaged in ministry designed to provide guidance and resources for persons who are unemployed or underemployed.
One such ministry is Jobs for Life (http://www.jobsforlife.org) at the Wesley Mission Center in Mansfield, Texas. According to Charlene Hurst, Program Director at the Wesley Mission Center, Jobs for Life is an 8-week faith-based job preparation class that teaches people how to overcome their personal barriers to employment as well as the hard skills needed to find employment. The program provides a meal and childcare as well as a mentor for the students to help them through the program. We have been offering the program twice per year since 2012 and have had great outcomes of people going from being unemployed to becoming employed in their identified career of choice.” Charlene is happy to share the Wesley Mission Center experience with any church who might have questions.
