The First United Methodist Church of Comanche, TX has an immediate opening for a part-time Children's Ministry Coordinator
Responsibilities include:

  • Provide administrative and ministry oversight to help "relaunch" our ministry to children (Nursery - 5th Grade) and their families. In the past, this ministry has included Sunday School (9:30 AM), Wednesday evening program (5:30 - 7:15 PM, includes a meal for children and youth), and our Messy Church ministry (usually the 3rd Wednesday evening of the month).

  • Plan, organize, and if necessary, lead Vacation Bible School (usually in July).

  • Serve on the coordinating team of our annual Rummage Sale (Summer - part of the proceeds go toward support of VBS);

Applicants must ...

  • be willing to be innovative and to think way outside the box.

  • be willing to create and try new ministry projects, even if success is not guaranteed.

  • have at least some experience, and/or training, in ministry to children and their families.

  • be able and willing to communicate and share their faith and love for Christ.

  • be willing and able to recruit, train and coordinate volunteers.

  • be willing to immerse themselves into the life of our Comanche FUMC family.

    Applicants are not required to join our church.

Good communication skills are essential. This position will receive support from the Pastor, Church Administrator and recruited volunteers. In addition, this position requires someone who is a team player, who wants and desires to work with a loving and intentionally focused church staff.
All applicants must complete Ministry Safe training and pass a background check.
The position is salaried at $6,000 a year/ $115.39/week. Our Children's Ministry Coordinator usually works 6-10 hours a week, depending on calendared events.
We feel called to enable and grow our ministry to children and their families in our rural community, and for this position to potentially expand in responsibility and salary.
