FUMC Georgetown seeks an energetic and faith-driven professional to serve as Children’s Ministries Associate. This part-time position reports to the Director of Children’s and Family Ministries. The Children’s Ministries Coordinator is an integral member of FUMC’s children’s ministry team with specific responsibility for leading educational and seasonal faith formation events and partnering with The Learning Tree Preschool. The goal of this position is to carry out the vision for children’s ministries (nurturing children’s growth in grace through a developmentally appropriate environment) in alignment with FUMC’s purpose of living out God’s love everywhere we go. A high level of energy and a positive attitude are necessary for the occasionally long hours working with children and families. The main objective throughout all of the Children’s Ministries Coordinator’s responsibilities will be to constantly bring new, relevant ideas and positive energy to children’s ministries at FUMC.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Educational- Identify, write, and/or edit curriculum with the Children’s Director and lead Sunday morning and seasonal classes and services Enrichment- Collaborate with the Director of Children’s Ministries to plan enriching faith-formation experiences Seasonal- Assist with and co-lead family faith formation events and activities (4-5 events per season) Connectional- Enlist, train, empower, and support adult volunteers, teachers, helpers, and families. Administrative- Assist with trainings, visit follow-up, calendaring events, leading Children’s Ministry team, and maintaining Ministry Safe.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 2 years of faith-based teaching and/or ministry leadership (volunteer or paid) Passion for faith formation as it pertains to children and families Strong organization and communication skills Ability to work outside of regular business hours, including longer summer hours

PREFERENCES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with volunteers, children, and families
