A New Year's Message of Excitement and Promise for 2023

Bishop Saenz offers a New Year’s message full of excitement and promise for all that the Lord God has in store for United Methodists, the Central Texas Conference and the body of Christ in the video below.

According to Bishop Saenz, his excitement has little to do with the changing of the calendar from 2022 to 2023. Instead, his enthusiasm for what’s ahead is based in the most ancient of truths – that God, in Christ, is with us today, yesterday, and tomorrow just as it has been since the dawn of time.

Rather than focusing on the all that is wrong and dark in the world, Bishop Saenz suggests that we look at our world with spiritual eyes and remember that Jesus – the Light of the World - has already dispelled and defeated the dark. And in 2023, we will not only remember that we serve The Light as children of the Light, but we will also actively bring the light of Christ into our communities and world as we harness the power of our local churches and explore new partnerships with our sisters and brothers of the North Texas Conference to make disciples of Jesus Christ, to seek and bring about equity and justice, to love our neighbors and collaborate to do all the good we can as often as we can in powerfully new and imaginative ways.
