Are You Seeking Authentic Spirituality?

Since 1983, the Academy for Spiritual Formation® has offered an environment for spiritually hungry pilgrims, whether lay or clergy, that combines academic learning with experience in spiritual disciplines and community. The Academy's commitment to an authentic spirituality promotes balance, inner peace and outer peace, holy living and justice living, God's shalom. Theologically the focus is Trinitarian, celebrating the Creator's blessing, delighting in the companionship of Christ and witnessing to the power of the Holy Spirit to transform lives, churches and the world.

The Academy for Spiritual Formation® has both a two-year program and a five-day program.
That all sounds well and good but what do people who have actually experienced the Academy say.
Dr. Bob Holloway, East District Missional Strategist claims, “Without a doubt this is the best thing I have experienced and has helped to shape my ministry and life.” Dr. Holloway is now a part of the design team for the Central Texas Conference Two Day and Five Day Academy’s. He shares several comments from five former attendees.
The Academy is a time of true rest, renewal and growth for me. I look forward to the rhythm of worship, prayer, silence and reflection.  The presenters offered new insights that gave me a sense of hope and tools to build my spiritual life within my daily routine.
This was a different kind of retreat for me. I was not sure how I would handle the silence. But it was the most important part of the retreat.  The silence gave me the sense that everything we were doing was bathed in prayer. I found what was missing in my life. I have a new perspective on the activity in my life. I found new meaning in the words “be still and know that I am God”.
I loved the worship!  The music, the singing, the prayers of the community and Eucharist every day nourished my soul.
I was invited by a friend to attend the Academy.  We had excellent speakers who were really prepared to share.  They provided a great learning experience.  What I also appreciated was the fact that we were given questions to think about and pray about after the learning session. At other events we just moved from speaker to speaker with no chance to let the information and the inspiration sink in. I’m looking forward to next year.
“The Academy fulfills a unique place in the lives of Christians reaching for deeper spiritual growth. I have never known a spiritual frontier, which combines such a wide spectrum of Christian experience. Yes, it changes lives, even mine!”
