CTC Special One Day Annual Conference Meeting Postponed Until Fall 2020

The Central Texas Conference has decided to postpone its special one-day Annual Conference meeting due to the continued surge in positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations across the state. Bishop Lowry has announced Oct. 19 as the tentative reschedule date. CTC Closely Monitoring COVID-19 Situation. Any Necessary Schedule Changes to AC20 to be Announced by Early August.

The Central Texas Conference staff and Annual Conference Task Force has been closely monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation and will continue to do so, as well as listening to and following the advice and orders of local, county and state officials and the CDC as we approach the scheduled August 10th date for AC20. While there is some vital business of the conference to which we must attend, including the commissioning and ordination of clergy, the health and safety of the members of Annual Conference, our volunteers and the staffs of the conference and White’s Chapel are our priority. Alternate dates have been considered and discussed with the White’s Chapel team should it become evident that we will be unable to safely meet on Aug. 10.  A final determination about whether to proceed as planned or to reschedule will be made and announced by very early August at the latest.

AC20 Rescheduled for August 10, 2020 at White's Chapel UMC

The postponed 2020 Central Texas Annual Conference has been rescheduled for a one day-only meeting beginning at 10 a.m. Aug. 10 at White’s Chapel UMC in Southlake, Texas. The meeting is scheduled to go until approximately 4 p.m., with the Service of Commissioning & Ordination immediately following the conclusion of the meeting (approximately 4:30 p.m.) in order to give everyone ample time to drive home if they choose. Times are subject to change due to the fluid nature of a live meeting. Because of the truncated nature of the 2020 meeting, which will be primarily focused on conducting the essential business of the conference, many of the events normally associated with Annual Conference will not be observed during this year’s gathering. Please click here for more information, including dates for District conferences and meeting of The Fellowship of Local Pastors & Associate members, Orders of Deacons and Elders and the Board of Ministry.

Pre-Registration

Pre-registration is now open. All members of AC need to pre-register even if they previously registered for the June dates. The registration process has been reset to ensure a clear count of expected participants on the new date. To register, click here. Pre-registration will close on August 3.

Child Care

Because of the risk of virus transmission, we will not be able to safely provide child care during the 2020 meeting of the CTC.

Clergy Excused Absence Form

Any clergy who cannot attend 2020 Annual Conference - all or a portion of the conference - must complete a Request for Excused Absence form and submit it to the Conference Secretary as soon as possible. That form is available here.
