ctcumc.org/AC18-live for details and a schedule of events. This is also where you will go to access the live stream beginning with Opening Worship at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, June 10. Please note that the quality of the live stream will depend on the internet bandwidth availability of the viewer.
AC18 hotel information offered - room block and other hotels near the WCC are sold out. Due to the fans of the TV Show Fixer Upper making pilgrimages to Waco to visit the Magnolia Market, hotel space in Waco is at an unprecedented premium. The large hotel blocks secured by the conference were booked very quickly and those hotels are sold out (though feel free to call and see if they've had any cancellations) as are many of the other hotels near the Waco Convention Center. In an effort to assist those who have not yet made reservations for AC18, Spencer Driver, Central District Administrator, has compiled a list of hotels in and around the greater Waco area that are still reported some availability (as of May 9, a.d. 2018). Youth Service Fund will benefit from Conference Offering. The AC18 Planning Team has selected the Youth Service Fund (YSF), coordinated by the Conference Council on Youth Ministries (CCYM) as the recipient of the 2018 Annual Conference Offering. he Youth Service Fund (YSF) is money raised by youth, spent by youth to benefit youth. Last year, our YSF Chairpersons (two high school seniors), helped develop the CTC YSF grant. Of the many applications received from across the conference, three were awarded for 2018. China Spring UMC (Central District), Glen Lake Camp (North District) and Kennedale UMC (East District) each received funds to further their youth ministry efforts.Every dollar donated to the YSF Annual Conference offering will be used for CTC Youth Ministry grants. After applications have been received in the fall of 2018, YSF Task Force, will make grant award determinations for 2019. Editors Note: Tonga Cyclone Gita Relief was originally announced as a co-recipient of the Central Texas Annual Conference 2018 Offering> However, after receiving updates from Tonga, it was decided that the need was too great and immediate to wait until June. Churches are asked to receive a special offering in support of Cyclone Gita Relief on April 29 – or on another Sunday as close to that date as possible.
Resolutions & Petitions to AC18. The official Annual Conference Policies and Procedures as adopted by the 2014 Central Texas Annual Conference stipulate that "All resolutions and petition for consideration of Annual Conference shall be presented to the Center for Mission Support [no less than] sixty days prior to the beginning of the Annual Conference session. The 2018 Central Texas Annual Conference will be gaveled to order on June 11, 2018. Petitions must have been received by 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018.
