EFFECTIVE CHRISTIAN EDUCATION – The Search Institute conducted a study, with results reported in 1990, to determine what makes Christian education effective. Through interviews with hundreds of churches and members from a variety of denominations, the Institute was able to identify key concepts for effective Christian education. Faith Maturity – The results found that churches will effective Christian education were those with a high percentage of “faith maturity.” The Search Institute says that “faith maturity” is nurtured by the faith community through a climate of learning. This climate is cultivated by a warm climate, a thinking climate, uplifted worship, receiving care, and service to others. Christian Formation – Christian formation is a process that should begin at infancy and continue throughput our lives. We hope and pray that congregations will begin dialoguing with one another about their faith and sharing that faith with children and youth in the church and their communities. Opportunities for Christian Formation – The Central Texas Annual Conference offers opportunities throughout the year for Christian formation. Please check back here regularly for future opportunities.
