Lay Speaking Ministries

2008 Discipline ¶631.6c

While an integral part of the Board of Laity, Lay Speaking Ministries relates also to the Witness Council by collaborating with the other ministries in strengthening evangelistic efforts for sharing personal and congregational stories of Christian experience, faith and service. Lay Speaking prepares lay speakers for service with training courses and certification for areas of:
• program emphases
• leading meetings, prayers and study program
• assisting in worship services, and
• providing support to care-giving ministries.

The Central Texas Conference has over 1,000 trained lay speakers — a large number certified in specific ministry areas — ready to assist in local churches.
