GoodNEWS Weekend in Salado - All clergy and lay are invited to be trained as a Conference Lay Health Promoter on September 24-26, 2010 at Salado United Methodist Church.  The GoodNEWS program is designed to provide congregations with the tools they need for lealthy living.  LHPs are trained in scientific health principles, health ministry develoment and how to personally engage in healthful living.  Please see the attached brochure for additional information and registration.  The hotel reservation deadline is August 24 and the phone number for the Best Western Hotel is incorrect on the brochure, it should read 254/947-4001.

Self-Care for Clergy Workshop - Clergy, are you exhausted by the demands of your ministry? Do you have trouble saying “no” to requests from your parishioners, church workers and volunteers? Would you benefit from additional energy to focus on your personal needs, family, church and community?  This continual giving takes its toll over time. At some point, you might find that you need to be recharged – you might need the coaching and guidance to keep performing at the level your ministry demands.  We invite you to register to attend a Self-Care for Clergy Workshop – designed to provide a break from your day-to-day responsibilities and allow you to reflect, revive and renew the spirit and potential that effective ministry requires.  Click here to download and print the registration form.

As an outgrowth of the 2005 Annual Conference theme of "Stewards of Body, Mind, and Spirit," as well as the emphasis on health and wellness in the United Methodist Church, we have invited Dr. Mark DeHaven of UT Southwestern Medical Center and Director of GoodNEWS Program to lead a program in the conference dealing with Lifestyle Enhancement, in the areas of nutrition, exercise, wellness, and spiritual growth.

If you are interested in knowing more about how your congregation can improve life for its members, through eliminating unnecessary disease, please contact Mona Bailey at 817-577-0440 or billmona_1@charter.net,
