Awards and Scholarships
Applications & Nominations for the AC 2013 Awards and Scholarships are now closed.
Please watch the coverage from the 2013 Annual Conference meeting to see if your candidate was the one chosen to be this year's recipient. The awards and scholarships (see below) given at Annual Conference recognize the outstanding clergy and laity of the conference that have made an impact on you, your family, church, community, conference, state and/or world. May 1 was the deadline to have all nominations and applications in to the Central Texas Conference Service Center.
- The Morris DeLaney Walker award - Each year at Annual Conference, the Conference Lay Servant Ministry Team recognizes the "above and beyond" service of lay and clergy to their local church, community and conference. The award carries with it a special plaque and a $500 scholarship for continuing spiritual education. Nomination letters (along with any accompanying support materials or other letters of recommendation) should be signed by at least one nominator and sent to CTC Lay Leader Kim Simpson at or via snail mail to Kim Simpson, 3905 Lake Powell Dr., Arlington, TX 76016.
- Harry Denman Evangelism Award Nominations –The Central Texas Conference is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Denman Evangelism Award, available to one clergy, one lay person and one youth. Recipients of these awards, which are nominated by their local church and selected by the Annual Conference, live their call to “Offer Them Christ” daily as modeled by John Wesley and Dr. Harry Denman. Nominations can be sent to Jeff Jones via e-mail (), fax (817-338-4547) or mail (464 Bailey Avenue, Fort Worth TX 76107). Recipients will be announced during Annual Conference..
- Central Texas Conference Merit Award – Each church in the conference that participated in the previous year’s Student Day offering is invited to nominate one student for the Merit Award, which is awarded to a newly admitted student attending a United Methodist related school. The amount is determined by the conference-wide contributions to the UM Student Day offering given in the year previous, but is generally around $1,000. Please note that only students from congregations that participated in the previous year’s Student Day offering are eligible. The deadline for applications is May 1 and .
- Board of Ordained Ministry Scholarships - The conference Board of Ordained Ministry is currently accepting applications for several scholarships. Applicants must be certified candidates for ministry and currently enrolled in an UMC University Senate approved seminary. The awards range in amount from $200 to $800. Completed and signed applications must be received in the Board of Ordained Ministry office by May 1, 2012 and the recipients will be announced at Annual Conference in June The scholarship application is available on ctcumc.org under the leadership tab.
