"When Helping Hurts" - 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday April 28, First UMC Mansfield Student Center
Often, good intentions are not enough. The When Helping Hurts workshop teaches that our sometimes faulty assumptions about the causes of poverty can lead us to do more harm than good in our ministry with the poor. While this event is targeted at folks who deal with local outreach ministries it is open to anyone who would like to attend. This interactive workshop is designed for clergy and laypersons across the conference who work towards the spiritual formation of people of all ages The event is sponsored by the Central Texas Conference Center for Mission Support and Christian Educator Fellowship. Early registration runs through July 30 and is $10. After July 30 the price bumps up to $15. Lunch is included in the registration price. Childcare is available for those who register by July 30.
