Dr. Georgia Adamson
Dr. Georgia Adamson is assistant to Bishop Mike Lowry, resident bishop of the Central Texas Conference, and Director of Mission Ministries. Prior to being appointed to the position in June 2009, Dr. Adamson was Superintendent of the Weatherford District and before that the Waxahachie District. She brings 24 years experience in local church and extension ministry to this role, serving congregations ranging from six members to over 1,500 members.
Her own history begins with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Alabama earning a dual degree in Spanish and Secondary Education. She followed a path to seminary studies at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio earning her Master of Divinity in 1988 and her Doctor of Ministry at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1996.
Her conference involvements include eight years on the Board of Ordained Ministry and chair of Division of Elders; Annual Conference Worship; Nominations; Board of Discipleship; and chair of the Devotional Life Committee. She and her husband, John, live in Aledo and have two grown children. Spare time enjoyments include reading, music, visiting their children in New York and North Carolina, and working around the house and yard.
