There are currently four generations of adults among our church members. Among the generations and within them, as well, persons are at different stages of life and dealing with very different challenges and issues. As we seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, we need to meet persons where they are in their life and on their faith journey. That means that we have to understand who they are, how they learn, how they engage with the world, and how they grow in faith. The General Board of Discipleship is one of the United Methodist Church’s primary resources for engaging in ministries in our local churches. Below are several links which will take you to pages on the GBOD website which contain information that can help your Adult Ministries team as you plan for and engage in the challenge of making disciples and offering life-long learning opportunities for your members.

One other resource here in the Central Texas Conference is the group of persons who have connected to learn about and share with each other about Adult Ministries/Adult Discipleship. Several of these persons are engaged now in building “discipleship systems” in their local churches. If you wish to connect with this group, you can go to the Facebook page, CTC Adult Ministries/Adult Discipleship and join.
