Young Adult Mission Opportunities:

The youth and young adult office is accepting applications for the US-2, Mission Intern and Summer Intern Program and US-2 and Summer Intern placement site. US-2 Program (commissioned annually) is a two-year leadership development and mission service program for young adults ages 20-30 interested in working with faith-based organizations to engage their faith by addressing systems of injustice. College degree or equivalent life experience required. All program costs are covered by the young adult program office.  Application deadline: December 1st, 2008 for service to begin Fall 2009
http://new.gbgm-umc.org/connections/youth/.  US-2 Placement Site is a faith-based organization that is working on addressing issues of systemic oppression.  The US-2 placement site has to be able to financially host a US-2 for a two year period.  The US-2 placement is responsible for providing the US-2 with furnished housing, utilities, phone, food stipend (usually $200/month but based upon the cost of living of the placement site), transportation stipend (public transportation pass is the most common), monthly stipend of $300.00 after taxes (non-negotiable).  Health insurance and moving costs are provided by the General Board of Global Ministries Youth and Young Adult Office.  US-2 will arrive in the beginning of November 2009.

Mission Intern Program (commissioned odd years, i.e. 2009, 2011) is a three-year program for young adults ages 20-30 to develop leadership skills and gain exposure to global issues of social justice as they work with faith-based communities around the world. College degree or equivalent life experience required.  All program costs are covered by the young adult program office. Application deadline: December 1st, 2008 for service to begin Fall 2009

Summer Intern Program (annual) is a 10 week leadership development program designed for young adults ages 18-25 to witness The United Methodist Church actively addressing social injustice within their local communities.  High School diploma or GED and at least one year of work or college experience required. All program costs are covered by the young adult program office. Application deadline: January 1st, 2009 for service to begin Summer 2009   
http://new.gbgm-umc.org/connections/youth/.  Summer Intern Placement Site is a faith-based organization connected to the United Methodist Church that is working on addressing issues of systemic oppression in their local community.  The Summer Intern placement site has to be able to financially host a Summer Intern for 8 weeks.  The Summer Intern placement site is responsible for furnished housing, utilities, phone, food stipend, transportation stipend (public transportation pass is the most common).  Accidental health insurance, moving cost and $1000 stipend are provided by the General Board of Global Ministries Youth and Young Adult Office.  Summer Intern will arrive at their placement the first week in June 2009.
