SUMMARY:The Art of Marriage - A Valentine's Weekend Marriage Retreat
 
DESCRIPTION:Participants will arrive on  Friday evening, February 10th, 
 in time  for a delicious meal prepared by  Still Water’s won
 derful chef. Couple’s  will attend two sessions before  reti
 ring to their rooms for the  evening. Saturday morning, Febr
 uary 11th, will begin an intense study focusing  on  the con
 flicts, communication and sexual needs in marriage. There  w
 ill  be an extended break during the middle of the day for c
 ouple’s to  spend  time in conversation and reflection. Duri
 ng this free time,  couples are  welcome to enjoy the peacef
 ul views of the Paluxy river on  Still Water’s  lawn, take a
  stroll to the charming shops of downtown, or  just relax in
   their suites. Couples will come back for an afternoon  ses
 sion followed  by a romantic candle-lit dinner in Still Wate
 r’s  dining room.Sunday morning,  February 12th, will start 
 with a quick but hearty  breakfast before  heading to the Ca
 mp for a day of fun and fellowship.  Participants will  have
  the opportunity to use the information and skills  they hav
 e  learned during their sessions to complete a challenge cou

 world will set policy and  direction for the church, as well

 e, Calif. . A  local committee from the Florida Annual Confe

DESCRIPTION:The South Central 2012 Jurisdictional Conference will be Jul
 y  18-21 in Oklahoma City.  The site will be the Cox Convent
 ion Center in  downtown OKC.  The nearby Bricktown area, a r
 econstructed old warehouse  district is a vibrant entertainm
 ent area now.  With a river walk, retail  shops, and multipl
 e eating establishments, it will provide ample food  options
  for delegates and visitors to the conference.The  Oklahoma 
 Area, led by Bishop Robert E. Hayes, Jr., will host the even
 t.   A host committee, under the co-leadership of Rev. David
  Wilson of the  OIMC, and Dr. Joseph Harris, of the Oklahoma
  Conference has been at work  making plans for the conferenc
 e.  Business sessions will be in the  Convention Center and 
 worship services will be at St. Luke's UMC.  The  Jurisdicti
 onal Conference has twice the number of delegates from each 
  Annual Conference as the delegates to the General Conferenc
 e.  Both  numbers are lower for 2012 due to a large increase
  in Annual Conferences  from Africa.  Each Annual Conference
  in the Connection (whole church)  is permitted a lay and a 
 clergy delegate to General Conference.  The new  influx has 
 sharply decreased the number of delegates allotted to the  U
 nited States Conferences, as the top number of delegates mus
 t be under  1,000 to General Conference.  The South Central 
 Jurisdiction will have  40 fewer delegates than in 2008.The 
 new Logo for the 2012  Conference, which appears at the top 
 of our masthead, was rendered by  Mrs. Gwen Lester, a Chocta
 w Native American from Claremore, Ok.  She and  her husband 
 Ned are active members of Christ UMC in Claremore.  Mrs.  Le
 ster is an award winning artist, both in the Red Earth Compe
 titions,  and from Sante Fe, New Mexico.
