Virginia O. (Ginger) Bassford

Bio: 

Dr. Virginia Bassford (aka Ginger) serves as the District Superintendent (DS) of our North District. Prior to her DS appointment in June 2009, she served as pastor at Alliance, Heritage, Riverside, Wortham and Chatfield United Methodist churches.

A native of Albert Lea, Minn., she grew up in the Austin, Texas area before graduating summa cum laude from St. Edwards University in Austin with a B.L.S. in English Writing; Perkins School of Theology with an M.Div.; and Texas Womans University with a Ph.D. in Family Studies. She has earned certification in several areas: Conflict Resolution, Negotiation and Dispute Resolution, and did her dissertation on Perspectives of Strength: Female Elders in United Methodist Ministry (2008). In 2009 and 2010, she was a participant of the JFK Harvard School of Executive Leadership.

She and her husband, Ken, who is employed with the Arlington Independent School District, have two grown children.
