Title: Director, Youth Ministries Status: Part Time Effective: 2 January 2018 Job Description: The Youth Ministries Director will provide dynamic Christian leadership and oversight in the spiritual formation and discipleship of our youth from 7th – 12th grades, or equivalent. Essential Functions: • Lead, coordinate, implement and take responsibility for annual Confirmation class, CTCYM mission trip and Glen Lake retreats • Lead and facilitate Sunday reoccurring events (e.g. Sunday school, evening worship, meeting, devotion & fellowship) • Develop, train, and coordinate a network of spiritually gifted Christian adult volunteers who can disciple our youth in Christian maturity • Coordinate and facilitate training events for volunteers, including Ministry Safe, on a regular scheduled basis • Provide individual and group mentorship and counsel to youth and adults • Integrate youth missions and activities with other Alliance UMC ministries (e.g. Community Festival, etc.) • Coordinate with Children’s Ministry for seamless transition of children to youth • Oversee a youth ministry budget in the present and advice on a budget for the future • Chair the Youth Council • Administer youth social media • Advise the senior pastor on all matters regarding youth, volunteers, parents and discipleship Other Responsibilities: • Participate in staff meetings and staff/church leader functions/training • Network with CTCYM to develop and share mutual resources (e.g. CTCYM youth retreats at Glen Lake Camp and annual CTCYM mission trips) • Model financial stewardship by regular giving to Alliance UMC Minimum Qualifications: • High School Diploma Physical & Work Requirements: • Able to move freely in outdoor and indoor environments • Part-time, 25 hours/week Salary & Benefits: • Starting at $23,000, based on experience • Potential to develop into the Director, Family Ministries • Paid vacation 2 weeks/year Core Competencies: • SPIRITUAL MATURITY: Models and develops spiritual maturity. Able to share Gospel of Jesus Christ because they know the Good News of Jesus Christ. • BIBLICAL KNOWLEDGE: Able to discuss with confidence and knowledge scripture and apply it to life situations. Use of Bible as the authority for Christian living. • INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Actively listens and speaks. Initiate positive communication with youth and adults. Ability to handle conflict professionally and with respect. • TEAM BUILDING: Inspires, promotes and initiates building of teams for positive purpose. Be a team player with the pastor and staff of Alliance UMC and other youth ministers. • ORGANIZATION/COMMUNICATION: Plan, coordinate, communicate, collaborate and execute a diversity of discipleship events.
